JUNE 5 - JULY 27 9:00am - 3:00pm Monday - Friday
WHAT IS RoboCampHER?
RoboCampHER is a summer camp designed for girls [in grades 4-7] hosted at Texas Southern University. Its focus is helping females develop interest in learning Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), Robotics, and Computer Science. Aside from technical skills, our program is designed to allow creativity to flourish. The camp is filled with exciting and innovative experiments that expose students to a new world of learning.
RoboCampHER strives to meet students’ learning styles through activities that are project-based - this bridges the gaps girls may have in core subjects. RoboCampHER also combines academics with fine arts and culture.
INSTRUCTIONAL THEMES: STEMventions
Science Fair (Chemistry Invention) - an interactive exploration to establish objectives, criteria, synthesis, and analysis to develop a group project focused on food intake for humans and animals.
Tech Fair (App Development) - video and app designs are generated in small groups or individually based on skill and then presented in a competitive format.
Engineering Fair ('Chair-ity') - activities include the engineering science and technology utilized in designing, manufacturing, and structural dispositions involved in building cardboard furniture.
Mathematics Fair (Math Mania) - an invitation to create a memorable mathematics experience through games, mental tricks, and technology. Campers learn fun and fast ways to mentally solve equations, develop board games, and learn to design apps.
